Rare nautilus mounted in silver and parcel-gilt silver, Augsburg, 1781–1783

the shell surmounted by a reclining feline herm, adorned with a front mask chased with the face of a satyr; the support in the form of a full-round satyr seated on a circular base decorated with vine tendrils and grape leaves, h. 32 cm

The piece reprises the model designed by Balthasar Permoser and executed by Bernhard Quippe around 1707, preserved in the Grünes Gewölbe in Dresden.
