Servante in ebonised wood by Collier & Plucknett, England, last quarter of the 19th century

in the manner of Boulle on a tortoiseshell ground; broken-front design featuring two central glass doors and two rounded side doors, surmounted by a black marble top. Bracket feet fitted with casters; rich gilt-bronze mounts finely chiseled in classical taste complete the piece. Paper label of the cabinetmakers Collier & Plucknett affixed to the back of the servante, approx. 118 x 220 x 65 cm.

Collier & Plucknett, a historic English firm active circa 1870–1900, produced chiefly high-quality Victorian and late-Victorian furniture. The company held a Royal Warrant, an official appointment authorizing the supply of goods or services to the British Royal Household, attested here by the paper label bearing the wording “By Appointment to Her Majesty”.
